Chef-Owner Fernando Martinez, born in Havana, Cuba, where he ran a small family-owned restaurant, came to the United States 1995 and lived in San Diego, CA, before moving to Louisville. Since then he has been working in the restaurant industry, in the last five years as a General Manager and Chef of some local Restaurant before opening together with his brother-in-law Marcos Lorenzo their own establishment. Fernando's recipes come from his mother and grandmother, and from his passion for making people happy with his food by trying new ideas and holding to old traditions of the Cuban cuisine.

Owner and General Manager Marcos Lorenzo came to the U.S. in 2000 from Havana, Cuba. While in Cuba Marcos was primarily civil engineer, but when he arrived to the U.S. his thoughts turned in a new direction: Restaurants. Marcos handled all the design and layout of their restaurants and he has a passion for quality food and great customer service so he and his brother-in-law Fernando began to envision what has become Havana Rumba.
